Positive Touch for Schools Comprehensive Program

Positive touch for Schools is a program that is currently being researched and developed to create a comprehensive program for schools. Positive Touch put all of the individual programs of the MISP into one complete package so the entire community- teachers, children, families, and support staff, is served. The program is currently being researched in a Portland public school to determine the needs of the teachers in a comprehensive program to create the best possible package.

The program includes: peer-to-peer massage in classrooms, activities and games that teach cooperative learning of all school subjects through movement, teacher workshops and trainings, as well as parent workshops and family fun events that incorporate healthy, respectful touch.

Funds are needed for research and for purchasing and packaging program materials in complete school packages.

The Value of Touch – A Collection in Stories and Photographs

Touch is a basic need that humans cannot survive without. It is the first sense developed in utero and the last sense to leave us when we die. Healthy touch is necessary to keep us connected as a society. Instructor Travis Enter will be taking a year long journey, photographing and recording people of all ages, of times the touch of a loved one or a stranger made a positive impact on their life. As we share our stories and remember our own, we will begin to realize the importance touch plays in our own lives. With awareness and understanding, we can begin to connect and become more compassionate and respectful as a society.

A fund has been set up to cover his time and travel expenses, making it all possible.
